About Grams to Cups
Accurate, ingredient-aware kitchen conversions — free for everyone.
Why we built this site
Grams to Cups started with a simple frustration: recipes written in grams are everywhere, but most kitchens — especially in the United States — still measure in cups. Search for "100 grams of flour in cups" and you will find dozens of answers, many of them wrong, because almost every site treats flour, sugar, and honey as if they weighed the same. They do not. A cup of flour is about 120 grams; a cup of sugar is about 200 grams; a cup of honey is about 340 grams. Getting this wrong is the difference between a light, fluffy bake and a dense, dry one.
We built the site we wanted to use: a fast, free converter that knows the difference between ingredients. Every ingredient in our database has its own grams-per-cup reference value, and every conversion page explains the formula behind the answer, so you can check our work and learn the method rather than just copying a number.
How our conversions work
All conversions use one transparent formula: cups = grams ÷ grams-per-cup. We use US customary cups (about 236.6 mL) as the standard, since that is what most American recipes assume. Ingredient reference values come from established kitchen-measurement references used by professional bakers and recipe developers, and they are listed openly on every page — for example, all-purpose flour at 120 g/cup, granulated sugar at 200 g/cup, and butter at 227 g/cup. Nothing is hidden behind an API, and every page shows the actual division worked out step by step.
